Here's a topline look at just how few Chinese people are actually buying music. In fact, the per-capita spend on music is a paltry 10 cents, according to a breakdown by global industry group IFPI. Compare that to per-capita spends of $14.30 in the US, and $34.70 in Japan (which could soon be the largest music market in the world). More

China is about to own the US financially so it's only right that they get to download our music for free as a perk of ownership.

The stats are tricky because you also have to take into account the masses in rural China that do not have internet access as well as the masses that download music through share sites, etc. But still the numbers tell a story.
